The Churches of Gotland

VÄSTERHEJDE

The most conspicuous part of the church is the tower, which, alone in Gotland has Scanian step-gables; they were set up in 1856. Otherwise the building has a rather well preserved Romanesque character with a building history between 1200 and 1250. Altar piece, pulpit and pews are mainly from the 17th century.
